Twitter stopped[1] auto-linking replies in January. What I noticed is there
was a significant drop in reply-to data but what is there is almost always
accurate.

A concern I had at the time that has still not been addressed in Twitter's
transition is what about services like sms or jabber? There is no reply
button that can be used. Possible solutions for this is using i...@username or
@@username to specify that the reply-to data should be auto-linked for this
status or maybe just auto-linking from sms and jabber in general.
