Would it make sense to have special @ syntax for this? So say @local means keep it on this server, @pub means send it to all other services like twitter and FB?
Or use negation so that by default itgoes to everything connected but you can say @!fb to NOT send it to facebook, @!pub to keep it local etc? I was having this plan for my internal identiMca solution to make sure that a user must explicitly decide where his dent dhows up and by default it stays internal. IMHO a really good feature for intranet setups ...
