I do use andrew.niemantsverdriet as a username. I agree it is quite
long. As you can see my e-mail address is my first name only, so I am
backwards I guess. Although I do have an email alias setup for
andrew.niemantsverdriet.

My problem (and two of my junior admins) is that when the account name
field is already filled in with wrong information it is easy to
overlook to change especially when doing more than one account. Not a
huge issue but a pain in the butt when the error is made because the
use has to come see us.

Where is the code is this logic located? I might customize our version
until we can figure something better out.
