probably, your existing users are not built based on the object class 
"inetOrgPerson" but "account".

You can change your LAM server profile and replace the user module "Personal 
(inetOrgPerson)" by "Account (account)".
Then LAM will make users that look like your existing ones.

Otherwise, you will need to recreate the old users.
