I have a pristine Linux, LDAP and Samba environment that I am setting up
for a start up company. All Windows networking will be managed through
Samba controller acting as the PDC , BDC and DMS.

I must say that I am not a fan of the current method for calculating
RIDs from the UID or GID; and in fact I would like to allocate the UID
and GID from the same number space. Here is what I would like to do:

UID: always even (UID+mod(UID,2))
GID: always UID+1, always odd
For Samba Users: RID = UID
For Samba Groups: RID = GID

If someone can point me to the relevant code blocks then I can take it
from there.

Thanks,
