I was not able to reproduce it locally. Can you enable debug output in
your LDAP server and check the server's error message?

Good point, this should be solved.

I will add this to 4.1 as it is done now for posixGroups.

At the moment group of names can either be removed on the Unix tab of
an user or you can lock the user (lock icon in title bar). Locking
shows an option to remove these groups.
