Hi Barry,

please check if you are affected by one of the version specific topics:

https://www.ldap-account-manager.org/static/doc/manual/ch02s02.html#a_versUpgrade

Usually, the direct upgrade of the package should be fine.
Check your configuration in LAM afterwards. E.g. tree view suffix is now configured at tools section.

Setting up a new instance is also possible. Copy /var/lib/ldap-account-manager afterwards.

Best regards

Roland

Due to a lack of PHP7 support in Debian 8, we have been "stuck" on LAM Pro 6.3 for some time. We have finally moved to a newer Debian, but I'm curious how far we can "jump" in the versions and still have a smooth upgrade? Can we upgrade directly to the latest version, or are there incremental upgrades we should make along the way?

Also, since newer versions require newer PHPs, is it possible to bring up a new install and get it running and tested and then simply copy the version 6.3 config files over, as discussed in the manual? (More of a migration than an in-place upgrade.) Again, how far ahead can we move and still have compatibility with those old 6.3 config files?

Thanks for any insight you can provide.
