I have set up some Linux workstations in a small local network. And since I
installed Linux on each machine, I am by default, included in the following
standard Linux groups on each machine:

adm, cdrom, sudo, dip, plugdev, lpadmin, sambashare.

The numbers of these groups range from 4 to 35. But LAM sets the default
number range for groups from 10,000 to 20,000.

Is there any compelling reason not to reset the lower bound in LAM for
groups to 4, so that I can add users who will have
administrative privileges?

Regards,

Fred Obermann
