Hi Leopold,
to assign users uid/uidNumber/gidNumber you will need to use the
"Unix (posixAccount)" module. Make sure to use the "Windows" modules for
the Samba part (and not Samba 3).
In server profile, Windows, you put the Samba domain name (e.g.
example.com). This should match your LDAP prefix (e.g. dc=example,dc=com).
The Unix module can autofill the numbers. Please make sure to configure
the UID generator in your server profile (Unix settings).
As Rowland wrote all Samba related questions should go to them. ;-)
Best regards

Hi,
we have been using LAM from several years, and now we need to migrate
our lam+ldap+samba3 installation to samba4-ad-dc+ldap and LAM.
We have windows and GNU/Linux clients and our plan is:
- Create a box with the samba-ad-dc running and LAM.
- Create another box with one nfs server and ldap-account-manager-daemon
- The rest of the clients: Windows clients mounting the shared
directories and homes using CIFS and GNU/Linux clients using NFSv4.
In the process to build this setup, we have found some issues in LAM
that we don't understand.
For example, as we want to have GNU/Linux users, we want that
ldap-account-manager-daemon creates the home directory in the NFSv4
server, we need the uid and gid.
We have understood that we have to put in the server profile the Windows
Domain Info (DN=) but we have not found what we have to put there.
Another idea has been to add the unix extension but then there's no
automatic fill of the uid and gid number, and we have to be fill it
manually. Also, we have found that in our previous configuration the
number was increased for every user created, but now it is not.
So, someone has a server profile similar to our wished setup that can
show us to configure our system?
Best regards,
Leopold
