Regarding lack of noise cues from the engine with ANR headsets. I usually do
not turn on my headset until I settle in for cruise at altitude. That way I
hear the powerplant in all its glory during startup, warmup, taxi, takeoff,
and climbout which is the critical period for an aircraft. I do however
keep the ANR on during the rest of the flight and landing. A suggestion for
your consideration.
