My Avionics tech reports that my VOR antenna which is mounted in the left wing is not
adequate for IFR. It receives a weak signal despite the radio checking out ok.

He says that a rabbit ear style antenna behind the baggage area may work better. He
also suggested that using RG 400 low loss cable vs. RG 58U which I ahve now would also
help.

I had the plane (a IV-P) built for me and all I can say is that the antenna in the
left wing tip looks like a folded up piece of metal which I understand is standard(?).

The reception is ok but scratchy.

Any ideas out there or suggestions?
