Hi, Now that the Wikipedia in that language is live, what should be the autonym for the Jamaican Creole language?
Currently it's "Patois", which is probably incorrect. I can see different names floating around: "Jamiekan", "Jamiekan Patwa", "Patwa", "Jamiekan Kriyol", etc., and I don't know what to pick. It must be something unique and identifiable to the language's speakers. The most common name that is used in actual publications in Jamaica would be perfect. Intuitively, I'd pick "Jamiekan" because it's short and unique, but I'm really, really not an expert and I shouldn't decide it myself. -- Amir Elisha Aharoni · אָמִיר אֱלִישָׁע אַהֲרוֹנִי http://aharoni.wordpress.com “We're living in pieces, I want to live in peace.” – T.
