I agree with you that these pages (Recent Changes, Preferences, and Welcome Messages) will be used differently in established wikis than in newer ones. We are also keen to learn how editor behaviours differ in less established wikis. We'll be measuring user interactions with recent changes pages in the new wikis for which we enable this feature, and we would be happy to share our findings with you and the rest of the language committee. I was wondering if you or anyone else on the team could let us know if they have strong (other otherwise) objections within the next week or two.
