Summary: FRENCH_WHITESPACE bug

Initial Comment:
I’m using LanguageTool 1.6 with LibreOffice 3.4.5.

When I have a sentence ending with an interrogation point preceded by a fine
non-breakable whitespace, it is flagged as incorrect and LanguageTool propose
to replace it by a normal sized non-breakable whitespace. This is incorrect,
because it should be a fine non-breakable space, not a normal sized one. On top
of it, the rule in French says “Insert fine non breakable whitespace” so it
seams it should do what is expected.
If I desactivate the rule, I have no more this error pointed out, but neither I
have if there is no space, which is far more incorrect.

The correct case, with a fine non breakable space
“Qui est-il ?”
Non-breakable space, less correct than a fine space
“Qui est-il ?”
Incorrects
“Qui est-il ?” (with a regular ASCII space U+0020 before question mark)
“Qui est-il?” (without any space before question mark)

Message:
Thanks for your bug report. You are correct of course. I have just fixed
it in this svn revision:

[fr] fixed bug #3509663: the "espace fine insécable" (U+202f) was flagged
as an error before the question mark (?), exclamation mark (!)
semi-colon (;) and colon (:), yet this is strictly speaking the
correct space character to use before those punctuation mark.
So no longer flag this as a mistake.
In practise, the "espace insécable" is also often used (U+00a0)
so the rule also accepts it.
     See: http://unicode.org/udhr/n/notes_fra.html for more information
about what space to use in French typography.

LT-1,7 should be released soon (March 25, 2012) and will include this fix.
