You're running LT in server mode, aren't you? What does it print on the command line when you check a text from CheckMate? Also, there seems to be a bug report that describes the behavior: https://code.google.com/p/okapi/issues/detail?id=235 If the code that LT gets is indeed pt-BR, I think the issue is with CheckMate.
