I glanced at the Polish grammar.xml, but I could not find such rules.
In fact, if I use <exception><match no="2"/></exception>
instead of <exception>\2</exception> in the French grammar.xml,
I get an error:
Running XML validation for fr/grammar.xml...

Where line 6729 in French grammar.xml looks like this:
