I glanced at the Polish grammar.xml, but I could not find such rules.
In fact, if I use <exception><match no="2"/></exception>
instead of <exception>\2</exception> in the French grammar.xml,
I get an error:
Running XML validation for fr/grammar.xml...
cvc-complex-type.2.4.d: Invalid content was found starting with element
'match'. No child element is expected at this point. Problem found at line
6729, column 63.
Tests run: 3, Failures: 0, Errors: 1, Skipped: 0, Time elapsed: 0.473 sec

Where line 6729 in French grammar.xml looks like this:
6729 <token regexp="yes">vue?s?<exception><match
no="2"/></exception></token>
