One check per 30 seconds probably won't feel very interactive to the user... Checking could depend on whether text was actually changed. However, for texts that aren't small one should not send the whole text to the API every 1-2 seconds. In other words: it's not easy to get right and that's the reason we don't do it on languagetool.org.
