For anyone who's watching.

  Kerry Shu has this fixed.  Twas an issue with devices PM state on laptops
  when booting.
    Installation Hangs on Toshiba Satellite 5200(Dynabook G9) laptop

  Kerry supplied me with a fixed pci_autoconfigure module which now lets
  the R500 laptop have sound.
