Either ram problem or X11 is crashing out due to (Lack of ram) or bug (Or both) It really sounds like memory... when Caiman first came out with B70B (SXDE 08/07, or maybe it was 05/07) the installer wouldn't run on my Thinkpad T30 because it only could give OpenSolaris 766 of the required 768MB. I'm not sure that 768MB is really need though, it technically speaking makes no sense, but a check may be in place regardless. ZFS uses a good deal of memory unless you cap it, I can see why they would push upgrading.
