Downloaded, burned and installed Nevada 61 on my Dell Optiplex 745 (Has an on-board gigabit network Broadcom 5754 chipset)
network came up auto-magically, no issues (with the network) Except even though I can open a web browser, and surf the web just fine, the Solaris registration window says it can not contact Sun, and says I need to set up my network. But it is obviously working fine. One other tiny problem Now my LCD display (DELL 1703FP) isn't working right. Never had any trouble with my display in any previous version of Solaris 10 or Nevada, so something has changed. Oddly enough the picture is too big, probably an inch too big on all sides, and pressing the auto-adjust on the monitor solves nothing. I can use the OSD on the monitor to move the picture around, but not to shrink it. I've tried to change the resolution from the menues, and tried several, but that doesn't change anything. also I can not change the refresh, it always shows 76Hz, which i think is too high. i think the LCD display wants 60hz, but there is no way to change it. Is there a file to change or a way to manually set the resolution and refresh? Or maybe it thinks I have a different graphics cards then i do or something. But I really am glad to have the network running :-) This message posted from opensolaris.org
