http://www.trustedreviews.com/notebooks/review/2008/10/19/Toshiba-Port-g--R600---Hands-On-Preview/p1 I use the previous model, the R500 as my "doing-work" laptop, and while I wouldn't want to build ON on one, it's fast enough for most stuff, I'd have thought. The R500 weighs about the same as my eee pc 701 4g, which itself is impressively light and 2008.11 reports 3hrs 15mins on my R500, about twice as long as the little eeepc can manage. To make up for it's weight, the R500 does feel a little delicate in comparison with the 701, which you could probably throw through brick walls. I like the fact that their price tags differ by a decimal place :-) Vastly different target markets of course, but I use both machines depending on circumstance with 2008.11 and am really happy with them. In general, I don't see the point of laptops you can't easily carry around: having lugged a Ferrari 3400 around for 3 weeks on vacation a few years ago, I've learned my lesson! cheers, tim [1] http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/05/toshibas-12-1-inch-portege-r500-is-worlds-thinnest-with-disc-d/
