Thanks for your feedback. I'll pay more attention on this problem, although it
looks not derive from IWK driver.

accessible to anonymous users now.

I went home and tried it on my WPA2/Tkip&Aes & had the same problem. The
problem is somewhere in between dladm (because wifi associates fine) & getting
an IP address.

        Fixed it. Here's how:

This reminded me of a bug Moinak Ghosh found in Belenix w/KDE - that
zenity failing made nwam fail and then DHCP. I saw the zenity error in
/var/adm/messages & the fact that my WLAN was listed but could not connect.

He indicated the popup failure result was in
http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/onnv/onnv-gate/usr/src/cmd/cmd-inet/lib/nwamd/util.c#253

The root cause turned out to be with zenity & nwam. I enabled debug for
nwamd & saw that zenity could not pop up the 802.11 network selection window
due to an xauth issue.

I did xhost +, restarted nwam, the window popped up, I selected my WPA
network, entered the key & got an IP address assigned.

This made me go look at the NWAM list - where I saw the new NWAM + GUI.
I installed the .10 package & everything is working perfectly.

                Krusty Jonez ??:

Any reason with the 4965 I can't get a DHCP address
when connected to APs with any encryption? I can associate fine with either
nwam or regular network/physical to WEP or WPA APs , but cannot get assigned
any dhcp information. Configuring the ip info by hand gets me online.

If static IP can make you online, it should not be iwk driver
issue.

It can associate and get DHCP info fine from open APs.

                        I am using a 4965 in a Thinkpad T61 with 4gb ram.

This has happened since at least Nevada b93. I am now
on Nevada b96 bfu'ed to 9/01 current.

Do you mean you have ever get Intel 4965 work OK with earlier
Nevada build? Which one.

                You can try below commands:
                1. #svcadm disable physical:default
                2. #svcadm enable nwam
(with a popup, you can choose your AP, input wep key, if still
fail to get dhcp IP, then do next )
                3. #svcadm restart nwam
(when fail again, please post the /var/adm/messages file and
output of "ifconfig -a")

                - Michael

                        All,
At present, mercurial gate of Intel 4965 WiFi
driver(iwkph1.5) is opened to anonymous users. For more information how to
download source code and contribute code for this driver, please refer to
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/sierra/. At ths same time, the package of
this driver may be downloaded from this website as well.
In this version(iwkph1.5), Calibration and IBSS(adhoc
mode) features were added. Calibration provide a mechanism by which WiFi
chipset may adjust it's TX power according current chipset temperatrue and make
sure a good communication quality all the time. Furthermore, Calibration may
adjust WiFi chipset's receiving sensitivity and make sure not receive overmuch
noise and not lose useful wireless signal. Using IBSS mode, several wireless
stations may setup a wireless network without central AP.
                        Thanks,
                        Zhonghui
