Dear OS laptop folk,

I am would prefer to install OS 2008-05 on a Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop that
I inherited.

Unfortunately the display on the laptop is so dim that it cannot be used.

I have the laptop connected with an external monitor.

The initial boot from an OS 2008-05 CD displays the grub boot screen and the

If either standard or text mode install is chosen the monitor displays a
load screen followed by a character based display listing the kernel banner,
and copyright information with a blinking underscore on the fourth line.

I assume the installer starts using the laptop display at that point.

I tried booting a DP2 CD with the same result.

I also tried an Ubuntu 7.10 and received similar results so I assume the
alternate display install issue spans platforms.

Any suggestion on how I can get the OS install to proceed?

Thanks,

Jordan
