You can pick up the low end platforms for about a tenth of that. However, these platforms are *great* for Solaris, but there is much support still lacking for *OpenSolaris*. I hope to rectify that, but since its a spare time effort, and I haven't had much spare time lately, progress has been quite slow. (Mostly this means porting Tadpole proprietary Solaris 10 software to OpenSolaris, adapting for some differences, and such. Also, making the software work better with stock OpenSolaris without requiring closed source userland bits from Tadpole.
