Hi All,

I would really like to get powernow working on my PC - so I can sleep soundly
at night! :)
I realise this is the laptop mailing list, but it also appears to be the home
of frstat and all things power management related, so I felt it best to try
here first :)
I've installed frkit, and here is where I'm at so far:

bash-3.00$ dmesg|grep powernow
Jan 8 01:48:21 angelous powernow: [ID 400001 kern.notice] NOTICE: _PSS table
found: \_PR_.CPU0._PSS
Jan 8 01:48:21 angelous powernow: [ID 906471 kern.notice] NOTICE: Valid _PSS
table found
Jan  8 01:48:27 angelous svc.startd[7]: [ID 652011 daemon.warning]
svc:/site/powernow:default: Method "/usr/sbin/powernowd" failed with exit
status 95.

bash-3.00$ powernowd
ioctl: No such device or address

bash-3.00$ powernowadm
 State    MHz   Watts   Volts
     0   2200   110.0   1.350 (current)
     1   1000    49.0   1.100

Powernow mode: manual

bash-3.00$ powernowadm getmsr
MSR = 12060808060e0e0e, cfid = 0xe, cvid=0x8, mfid = 0xe, mvid = 0x6
max = 2200MHz @ 1.400V, cur = 2200MHz @ 1.350V, start = 2200MHz @ 1.350V

bash-3.00$ powernowadm 1
 State    MHz   Watts   Volts
     0   2200   110.0   1.350 (current)
     1   1000    49.0   1.100 (new)
AMD_POWERNOW_SETSTATE: No such device or address

bash-3.00$ prtdiag  | grep AMD
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ Socket 939

hmm..

I take it from this lot, that the frstat kernel module is correctly detecting
my CPU, but the the daemon isn't?

Any suggestions on where to from here? I'm using nevada 54, and frkit from 24
hours ago.

Thanks,
Jonathan
