Yesterday i got a present from the UPS man-- after unpacking all the boxes the
following lay before me:

(1) AMD Turion ML-44 2.4GHz 1MB L2 35W
(2) 1GB sticks of OCZ DDR400
(1) 7200RPM 100GB Hitachi HD

and so began the dissassembly of my carbon fiber beauty. the dissassembly was
fairly straightforward and i'll be posting pictures of the steps i followed
shortly. reassambly went smoothly except for the RAM which was a bit longer
than the stock stuff and requried the removal of the heatsink and filing of one
of the bosses.

after that reassembly went smoothly. i crossed my fingers the first time i
fired the machine up-- no smoke came out, so that was a good thing! ;) i was
stoked when she posted and the BIOS reported AMD ML-44 2400MHz!

the memory looked good @ 2GB, but when i ran memtest86 it reported that it was
only running at DDR318 (which i'd never heard of-- DDR333 yes, DDR318 no....)

then i began a fresh install of nevada 40 (i haven't gotten around to download
the 07/06 nevada yet ;(

all was going smoothly until i ran frkit. now when the machine boots it
complains that it can't find the correct powerstate for 2400MHz. (this will be
the subject of another post).

so all in all i'm pretty happy. the machine is much faster and it feels good
because now i've got a customized machine to show off. ;)

i'll get the pics up asap...
