Hi All,
I?m trying to get Solaris Express b27 up on my Aspire 1694 which has an ATI
X700 GPU, 1200x800 display and 2200BG WIFI. I?ll tell the whole story in case
it helps others?

My first issue is with the display. When I boot the screen is black. I searched
the forums and the 5 x CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE did not work (I tried a lot more than
that!). So I booted into single user mode and renamed Xorg. When Xorg failed to
load I could log into the text console to fault find (In fact I created a user
account and then could remote login from another PC through the network port as
well, even with the black screen).

I?ve tried may things with .xorg.conf inclusing:
Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,CRT"
Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,AUTO" #Works with SUSE 10
Both with and without PanelSize set.

Tried using Caspers .xorg.conf and change the display res and modes to working
ones from my SUSE 10 config.

No matter what I do I still get a black screen. Anyone have any ideas? Or even
better a working .xorg.conf from an X700 with 1280x800 LCD.

BTW, XSun works at 1024x768 but looks pretty bad:(

On the WIFI front, I loaded the iwi driver, but no card was found. I thought it
might be cardbus rather than PCI (manual doesn?t say). So, I loaded the cardbus
drivers, but now when I plumb the interface Solaris freezes with no error
message and I have to power off to recover. Can?t remote in or ping the machine
though Ethernet, so it must be totally crashed. Any ideas?

BTW, I?m pretty new to Solaris, so please go easy.

Many thanks.
Cheers, Gordon
