Well, I seem to have this mostly working.... After many hours of searching, I discovered the nv-control-dpy utility and xandr. nv-control-dpy is on the Nvidia FTP site and compiles just fine under OpenSolaris :).
This isn't as user friendly as I'd like it to be, and there's some quirkyness, but with enough scripting, I'm pretty sure at this point I can write dock and undock and bind those to gnome hot keys and get things working relatively well. All of this stuff basically works if you use the nvidia-settings control panel, but it would be a real pain to have to keep moving monitors around in the GUI everytime I dock/undock. I think this is one of the rare instances I've seen where the GUI actually works better than the command line tools! -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
