It will be enabled by default on the following machines:
"TOSHIBA", "TECRA M8",
"TOSHIBA", "TECRA M9",
"TOSHIBA", "TECRA M10",
"TOSHIBA", "TECRA A9",
"TOSHIBA", "Satellite A205",
"TOSHIBA", "PORTEGE R500",
"LENOVO", "64608VU",
"LENOVO", "889703U",
"Sony Corporation", "VGN-CR490N",
"Dell Inc.", "Latitude D630",
"Dell Inc.", "Precision M4300 ",
"Sun Microsystems", "Ultra 24",
"Sun Microsystems", "Sun Ultra 40 Workstation",
"Sun Microsystems", "Sun Ultra 20 Workstation";
There still seem to be issues on some machines (particularly older
machines), and though the driver support list is getting larger, it is
still not complete enough that with the system uncertanty, it isn't
ready for "enabled by default".
It is easy, though to turn on, test to see if it works on your
machine, and either leave on or turn it off.

Unfortunately, no. Resources have mostly been going to growing the
list of supported drivers/machines. There should be a better idea
towards the beginning of the year.
