Greetings, I just purchased a corega CG-WLPCI54GL WiFi PCI Card for use with my desktop OpenSolaris machine. This card is listed as "verified" at http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/laptop/wireless/ral/ and http://ralink.rapla.net/. However, Device Driver Utility lists it 5 times as (Device) "Network controller" (Driver) "Missing:[driver unavailable]" and more importantly plumb also seems to indicate that the card is not recognized by my system.
The detailed info on this card (taken from Device Driver Utility) is: node name: pci125d,c10b binding name: pci125d,c10b devfs path: /pci at 0,0/pci8086,244e at 1e/pci125d,c10b compatible name: (pci1810,8410.125d.c10b.0)(pci1810,8410.125d.c10b)(pci125d,c10b)(pci1810,8410.0)(pci1810,8410)(pciclass,000000)(pciclass,0000) driver name: unknown assigned-addresses: 82050010 reg: 50000 compatible: pci1810,8410.125d.c10b.0 model: Unspecified class power-consumption: 1 devsel-speed: 2 interrupts: 1 max-latency: 0 min-grant: 0 subsystem-vendor-id: 125d subsystem-id: c10b unit-address: 0 class-code: 0 revision-id: 0 vendor-id: 1810 device-id: 8410 I'm running OpenSolaris snv_118. ifconfig ral0 plumb failed with the following message: ifconfig: cannot open link "ral0": DLPI link does not exist After the system failed to recognize my card, I installed the SUNWral package (v0.2) even though pkgadd noted that these files conflicted with the driver already installed by default on my system. Running ifconfig ral0 plumb yielded the exact same error as before. I repeated this testing with the SUNWral package (v0.1) with the same result. The only "weirdness" of note about my corega CG-WLPCI54GL card is that it was purchased in Japan. Perhaps there are some differences between the US-branded and Japanese-branded versions of this same model? Any help you can provide (if this card can be made to work at all) would be greatly appreciated! Gratefully, Kevin -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
