Hello,

I have recently purchased a HP Pavilion ze2397ea laptop which comes
with an amd64 cpu. I have installed Kubuntu Breezy with the kernel
2.6.12-10-386 on it ( I know there is a 64bit distribution, but I have
downgraded to 32bit because there is no jdk for 64bit. Anyway, I had
the same problem with the 64bit version) My problem is that the system
clock is running too fast.

This issue has been covered in the forums before:

I think this has something to do with the
following error:
APIC error on CPU0: 40 (40).

>From my research on this subject, this specific error causes no change in the performance of the laptop.  But I very well could be wrong.  Perhaps someone who knows more could comment on the cause and possible solution for this error?
