Toshiba Portege R200 just works in Ubuntu (as in Gnome).

Marvel Yukon works here.

Mounts, USB HD tested.

Works. But not with Kubuntu, which is known, because there is no 
supporting application which catches hal events.

Works as well, Gnome and KDE.

Looks like that it's really Tecra specific.
