No, it is not just you. Same thing happened to me. Also, kernel patches like the one mjg59 added for ipw2200 quiescence at shutdown do not seem to make it into new releases either, as I need to request that to be put in place again.
Back to X issues, my fonts are not anti-aliased. I am also noticing that dialogue boxes do not get focus. Worst of all for me, my keyboard cannot generate apostrophes and double-quotes properly in X, although it does work fine on the console. I suppose that, on average, the process is one of continual improvement. Early in the release cycle, we do seem to take a few steps backwards, though.
