This might be a good idea. This "framework" should be introduced in the kernel, simply by giving to all wireless drivers the same structure and additional parameters to configure it, for instance a common radio_kill feature! (anyway I'm not sure if the kernel can remember the card status after a reboot) I dind't know about the new led class, this seems great. Another great step in my opinion would be syncing the led with the radio_kill status...
Anyway some work must be done in userspace level because now I think that more or less every GUI is not aware of leds and radio status. I think GUIs must be connected to this new kernel featurs to give a complete system usability The power management stuff also concerns gnome-power-manager: "prefer power savings over performance" should definitely interact with the wireless card too (e.g. switch it off if not used) can we discuss in the wiki page? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WirelessFramework -- laptop-testing-team mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/laptop-testing-team
