s/C/Posix/g preserves the truth value of the above statements does it
not? I mention this because the Win32 API appears to (modulo analogies
and certain linker options) at least maintain per-thread error
entries.

Basically, I hate seeing Larceny, which I use because it is *not*
dependent on a C compiler, coupling it's semantics to one of the more
annoying C lossages.
