With respect to the completeness of the LARTC tutorial, Bert is always willing to take patches and additional documentation from contributors. Have you submitted _any_?
I submitted a patch a few months ago (though not on this topic), but never got any response. And IIRC someone on #lartc told me that it was currently inactive/unmaintained due to lack of time or something like that. Never bothered to resend it. ;-)
