>Dear colleagues,
>
>On 16 - 17 December 2004 we are organising a workshop on "Comparative
>Perspectives on Scientific Expertise for Public Policy" at the
>Netherlands Royal Academy of Sciences in Amsterdam.
>We would like to invite you to this event.
>
>The workshops is organised by the Dutch research programme
>RETHINKING POLITICAL JUDGMENT AND SCIENCE-BASED EXPERTISE:
>BOUNDARY WORK AT THE SCIENCE/POLITICS NEXUS OF DUTCH KNOWLEDGE INSTITUTES.
>
>The workshop will address the complex relations between science-based
>experts and public policy, from the combined perspective of Policy Science
>and Science and Technology Studies. The focus will be on a comparative
>perspective, both between policy sectors in the Netherlands and between
>countries. The goals of the workshop are threefold:
>
>1. Compare the organisation of expert advice for public policy in the
>Netherlands and internationally, with focus especially on Europe.
>2. Research what the Netherlands can learn from experiences elsewhere,
>both in terms of research and in terms of policy (specifically for the
>organisation of expert policy advice).
>3. Create a European network of researchers, in which systematic
>comparative research on the organisation of expertise for public policy
>can be initiated.
>
>The program will include presentations by Paul Sabatier, Ortwin Renn,
>Peter Weingart, Les Levidow and others, and will also present ongoing
>research in the Rethinking programme.
>
>A preliminary programme can be found on our website:
