It's actually pretty easy and there is a subversion repository now, thought it's a bit more difficult to set up to compile at this point.

Just put in your application now so when you have a change set mail it in.

I think the control aspect is good as it would be easy to polute the language design with actionscript that doesn't take into account the technical constraints of implementing things like constraints.

I did try to edit the schema once and found it to be very difficult, which makes it more difficult to prototype changes to the foundation classes, but I think there is an intention to make that easier at some point in the future.

over any change to OpenLaszlo.  That drops my motivation factor for
contributing back into the base code, since it just seems like a lot of
overhead and long delays even for the simplest of changes.  (LPP-1623 is
a good example.)

Are there any plans to make this easier, like many other open source
projects?  Is there a future with subversion and committers from outside
LaszloSystems?
