I started with a borrowed copy of the first edition of Pragmatic
Version Control Using Subversion. http://pragmaticprogrammer.com/
titles/svn2/index.html seems to be a brand new edition covering svn
1.3. Our server just uses 1.2.3, so, ymmv. I think this book might
have been my favorite.

I think "Practical Subversion" is probably fairly ptw-oriented; it
has a great big chapter on repository administration.

The definitive book is http://svnbook.red-bean.com/ -- I have hard
copy and jim uses the free pdf.
