Ben and I discovered that mktemp is not standard across platforms. We either need to see if we can find a common subset of mktemp that will work for everyone or come up with a replacement.
But I'm pretty sure Henry and Max are using this just fine under cygwin, so I am mystified as to why it is not working for you. Perhaps you could dig into it a little? Maybe `set -xv` in your shell will reveal something?
