This should be doable, especially for DHTML runtime. The widget runtime is just webkit, and a widget is just a bundle of a local html page and css. I'm guessing their download somehow intercepts the drag gesture and creates a widget bundle from the target URL.

I haven't investigated this in depth yet, but how cool would it be to be able to run my SOLO Lazlo app in a browser and to be able to drag-and-drop it to my desktop to run similarly!?
