Details:On Linux, at least, the new comment regex doesn't cause an infinite
loop when processing the LFC. But on Linux I had to modify the whole file
test to make it more robust -- I had been relying on filesystem iteration
behavior that doesn't hold true everywhere.
It is likely that this change does fix everything for Windows -- I believe
there is still a problem with line terminator processing in the unit tests.
