Well, don't start on OL4 translations yet. We really need to move
everything over from a HTML->Docbook->HTML workflow to a Docbook-
>HTML workflow. Then you can author your OL4 translation in Docbook.
(John, we may also want to restructure the docs/source directory to
be multilingual.)
Once we do that, you would only need to put the lang="it" attribute
on the chapter tags. We may need to add lang="en" tags to code
examples, but I need to do some more research on that first.
The previous conversation muddled two topics: multi-language versions
of the authored books (the Developers Guide and so on), and multi-
language versions of the automatically generated books (the Reference
and Contributor's Guides). For the first, we already have at least
two translated versions of certain books, but they are authored as
final products. For the second, we only have English -- that's where
the overlay idea was being discussed.
This is actually quite a lot of work, so please let John and I spend
a little time on a design before we starting really going for it.
