[Laszlo-dev] Is this really the syntax for type-casting in Ecmascript?

I am seeing examples in various tutorials which seem to be
type-casting by using the
class name like this:

for (var i=0; i<MovieClip(parent).cells.length; i++) {
    }

It sure  looks like a function call...
