I'm not able to repeat what you describe with the current trunk release in 
Firefox or Safari on OS X.  So I suspect this is a browser-specific issue.

If you have a repeatable test case, please report in Jira, specifying the 
Browser with version, platform, and the version of Open Laszlo.
