Adobe says they will have the Flex 4.5 source code available next month. We
could start using their
preview release now, or wait until May for the official release. I tend to
want to wait for the official release, since I don't know of any pressing
need to support Flash 11 or Flash 12 right away.

The release notes I found for Flash player 11 list only some graphics
upgrades:

New Features

Key new capabilities in the Flash Player 11,0,0,58 Incubator include:

   - “Molehill” 3D GPU Accelerated APIs – A new set of low-level,
GPU-accelerated 3D APIs that enable advanced 3D experiences across devices
through the Adobe® Flash® Platform runtimes.
   - Cubic Bezier Curves – Using the cubicCurveTo drawing API, developers
can easily create cubic beziers without custom ActionScript code required.

Hi Henry - We don't yet have the Flex 4.5 SVN branch reflecting the 4.5
soure code. That will happen when we ship in May 2011.

Till then, you can access the SDK source by joining the Flex and
FlashBuilder 4.5 pre-release program with this URL:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/flexprerelease

Cheers,
ds

Subject: Flex Hero open source tree?

Hello Deepa,

I am working on integrating the flex open source compiler with the
OpenLaszlo system. We maintain a compiler which compiles an application
in our source language down to either Javascript (for HTML5 runtime
applications) or to actionscript 3 (when targeting Flash as the runtime).

We have been using the Flex 4
compiler jar files in order to invoke the Flex compiler on our generated
code.

We have been using Flex 4.1 Update 4.1.0.16076 (Thu June 30, 2010
)
which we checked out from
http://opensource.adobe.com/svn/opensource/flex/sdk/trunk last year.

We are interested in working with the new Flex 4.5 Hero release, to take
advantage of the new RSL and TLF
features. I am trying to figure out where
the open source tree is for flex 4.5. Is that still at
http://opensource.adobe.com/svn/opensource/flex/sdk/trunk
or is there a new location that is distinct from the 4.1 tree?

Thanks very much!
