Oh -- I see your questions were specific to dataset. Well, I think smokecheck is pretty comprehensive, maybe running a demo isn't needed, but it only takes a few seconds, so I always do it before a review or commit. For non-graphic things, "ant lztest" does a different test suite that may be helpful. It's part of what "ant runlzunit" does and doesn't take as long.
