Actually I do see messages like:
Recompile:
/tmp/lzswf9/opt/dev/+base/rojares-lzx-components/laszlo/build/Test/$lzc$class_ColoredListItem.as
Reason: The source file or one of the included files has been updated.
So it just seems to work (probably checking timestamps in the temp folder)
The disappointment was that the compilation was not that much faster.
But I think the speedup was something like 30-40%.
Is this close to the truth?
