Hello James,

I think we have met the same kind of problem trying to implement a
WebDAV client in Laszlo. You're right, Flash playet HTTP client only
supports GET and POST methods, and nothing else. The solution we
used is to implement a server-side proxy and to make client
communicate with it using POST requests only. Maybe the same
approach (simulate HTTP methods with POST requests) can work for you
  as well.

JH> I'm trying to build a Laszlo app which communicates with a server
JH> providing web services in a RESTful manner. I have no problems getting
JH> information from the server and displaying it to the use via datasets, but
JH> I'm somewhat at a loss as to how to communicate back with the server.

JH> For example, I might make a request to get a list of items belonging to a
JH> user. The user then deletes the item. I want to communicate that back to
JH> the server. Normally I would use an HTTP DELETE operation, but from what
JH> I've read, Flash doesn't support this.

JH> Similarly my user might make some edit to an item and I would like to
JH> notify the server of that change. The changed item is just one of the
JH> items belonging to the XML in the dataset that I retrieved. What I would
JH> normally do is build a URL to refer to the changed item and PUT (which
JH> also doesn't seem to be supported) the changed data.

JH> I'm not using any sort of RPC, just simple URL's (with or without data
JH> content). I'm sort of confused as to how I would build the content to
JH> return as well as some of the other mechanics of sending data. I'm
JH> reading the documentation on building data driven applications, but the
JH> process still seems fuzzy to me. Are there other good examples of how to
JH> do this sort of communcation with a server?

JH> Thanks
