Do you really need to decompile/recompile then? Why not just pass
parameters into the swf?

Hi Henry, Hi DL,
Thanks for your replies.
I'm looking to do something quite simple.
I would like to upload an swf file to the server, parse it and read
out some variables which have some special prefix or suffix. then
change their values accordingly. v. interesting for dynamically
changing urls, or datasets without the flash needing an internet
connection.
i guess openlaszlo is not the right tool for the job.
i'll keep looking at it.
thx
Cornelius

We don't have any tools to produce an .lzx file from a swf file
like that.
There are disassemblers like flasm and swfdump which are free
tools that are available.
There is a library which is used internally in the compiler
called JGenerator which can parse a swf file into semantic
blocks, but it is rather painful to use.
